Wedding Rituals and Meanings of Two Separate Cultures

In this paper we will look at two separate cultures wedding rituals and meanings. We will find that within various cultures, marriage is symbolically represented through a range of very simple to elaborate weddings. Marriage typically transforms both individuals’ roles in society and in the home. It is the combining of two families and often involves politics and takes into consideration good social standing. Cultural traditions are often passed on the families and children. Marriage can serve as a changing of roles in the financial realm as well as the occupational realm for a family. India and Chinese wedding are different in most facets and yet the same in a few (arrangement being one). We will take a closer look into the matrimony celebrations of both cultures and compare the meaning, symbolism, and process of each. Indian weddings are known to represent bright colors, traditions and symbolism. Because there are different spiritualties and cultures throughout India, weddings can differ based upon these aspects. â€Å"In the traditional Iyer or Iyengar (Tamil Brahmin) wedding, the kanyadan or as they call it kanyadaanam is one ritual totally unique to the weddings of people from this sect.†(Nada,2000) In this tradition the daughter sits on the fathers lap with a coconut in her hand and the fathers hands cradling the brides. In this paper we present a variant of the Small Open Economy Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Model (SOE-DSGE) and empirically validate it using quarterly data for Sri Lanka (1999Q1-2013Q4). The SOE-DSGE model incorporates low exchange rate pass-through dynamics and thereby departs in a significant manner from the canonical closed economy New Keynesian DSGE model which has become the work-horse of monetary policy design by modern central banks. The empirical validation of the SOE-DSGE model in the paper using Bayesian estimation techniques provides insights that would enable the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to advance its reform agenda to transition from the current monetary targeting framework to a flexible inflation targeting framework in the medium-term. The model presented herein can be extended evaluate the welfare implications of alternative monetary policy regimes and make out-of-sample inflation forecasts to get a handle on the type of policy adjustments that should be undertaken to design a monetary policy stance to achieve a predetermined stabilization target. But the new album’s first songs are promising. â€Å"Reckless Abandonment† hurtles head-on with driving drums and vocals, though the superficial lyrics are disappointing coming from singer Nick Thomas, who is known for heartfelt, mature songwriting. Still, â€Å"All Over You,† the album’s first single, follows with the perfect ingredients for a hit: sensitive lyrics, catchy rhythms, and the expressive vocals that made girls everywhere fall in love with Thomas. The soothing guitar strumming is beautiful and packed with emotion. The lyrics really do â€Å"Sing you to sleep,† as Thomas croons in each verse. Though â€Å"One Fell Swoop† still reigns as the band’s crowning achievement, â€Å"No Really, I’m Fine† should please even the purists of Spill Canvas’s acoustic days. It’s a flawed but genuinely enjoyable rock album with some brilliant songs. This album represents the final stage in the band’s evolution from an acoustic act to an electric quartet, and though the sound is louder, Spill Canvas remains passionate and poetic, with integrity rarely found in modern music.

If employees are on maternity/paternity leave or sickness leave, the replacement employee that is recruited internally is only temporary till further notice. This type of recruitment involves interviews same as if River Island was to recruit the staff externally, also questions will be asked in terms of if the employee is suitable for the post. The vacancies that are available to employees internally would be advertised or communicated to staff via their e-mail which is a fast way with no cost to inform the staff. Also the vacancy will be on a notice board that only staff have access to, this is also a fast and effective way to communicate the availability of a vacancy. But the main way in which a vacancy would be communicated is by personal recommendation often referred to as ‘word of mouth’ and can be a recommendation from a colleague at work. A full assessment of the candidate is still needed however but potentially it saves on advertising cost. External Recruitment This is when a business looks to employ staff from outside the business in which case a head hunter might be used to facilitate the search, contact and recruitment process. River Island externally recruits staff because of a number of reasons, one of the reasons why they do this is because of seasonal demand for example around Christmas time they need more staff to work at each branch as customers buy presents, so therefore River Island would recruit staff on a temporary basis till further notice. They would advertise the vacancies on their website as this method is not time consuming or costly to the company, however recruiting staff will involve longer interviews, more paper work and training compared to recruiting staff internally which would have no problem fitting in and for that reason this is a disadvantage. On the other hand external recruitment is a positive to the company as new ideas and some form of change may result in recruiting someone from outside the company.
